Tropical Flower Cocktails

Aloha!

On a rainy day like this we thought we’d invite you to come with us on a journey, to a little tropical island, surrounded by clear blue sea.

Imagine yourself lying on hot sand surrounded by palm trees, scented flowers and lush foliage. A pure breeze ruffles your hair and you slowly sip your cold cocktail…

… yes, at Your London Florist we’re still in holiday mode. Summer might be coming to an end, but we just want to keep on dreaming, and today we want you to dream along with us as we visit flower paradise!

A short while back we had the pleasure of creating flower arrangements for an OK! Magazine private party. We were asked to design flower arrangements inspired by cocktails, and you know what? We loved every sip of it! Have a look what we created:

Green anthuriums, palm leaves, exotic cymbidium orchids and moluccella, mixed with some mint and of course – a dash of lime juice to finish.

In this all-blue sea cocktail we used hydrangeas, delphiniums, agapanthus and very unusual dendrobium orchids.

Ah, funky pina colada – dreamy pineapple eremurus, celosia, bird of paradise (because pina coladas somehow always remind us of those days in paradise) with a cherry on top.

His and hers, the creation. Fiery gentle gloriosa and hypericum complemented with strong bamboo. But of course, it’s all about strawberry base line.

Calla lilies, pink flamingo anthuriums, kniphopia, gloriosa lilies and cheeky strawberry skewers to seduce your lips.

Let us know which one is your favourite by leaving a reply below! And when you realise that the grey London sky doesn’t inspire the day-dreamer in you, you can order on line for your dinner table centre piece, as a unique gift, or simply to entertain at your bikini party!

Just choose your favourite flower cocktail and start dreaming, because this tropical arrangement could be standing right by you in your own little paradise.

Let the holiday begin (and never end)!

Floristry DIY

Sorry it’s been a long time since our last post. We’re crazy busy with arranging weddings and meeting new brides.

Wedding floristry it’s not only making beautiful arrangements – it’s about understanding couples and making their dreams come true!

Next month we’re supplying wedding flowers to a lovely bride in Cardiff. To make her table arrangements more romantic we’re decorating all of her candle holders. So I would love to share it with you.

For this job you’ll need glass candle holders – any shape, glue gun, scissors and selection of ribbons and brooches.  Be creative mix and mach different shape and texture ribbons and finish it with a brooch.

Good luck!

Secret dinner in the woodlands

I had been planning on doing this exciting photo shoot in the middle of the forest for such a long time! I knew exactly what I wanted it to look like, I just needed to find a photographer who would bring it to life… and thankfully I did. Her name is Andrea Whelan – an amazingly talented girl with a big passion for photography www.andreawhelan.com Her speciality is family shoots, but she was more than up for the challenge, and made my dream idea come true.
We arranged to meet up early Saturday morning. We were well prepared with our props (special thanks to Emma Chapman for letting us to use your beautiful tableware www.rubyblu.co.uk). I ended up running around with flowers, vases and plates, Andrea navigating up, down and around trees, apple crates and even my shoulders – just to take this perfect shot. Now I invite you , to our secret dinner in the woodlands…

Sloane in Bloom 2010

All week (25-29 May) Sloane Square was blooming! London’s best florists had an opportunity to show who is the most creative.

This year’s theme was “Alice in Wonderland”. Althought there was a wide array of displays on show, only a few really managed to catch the moment. That was no surprise however. It was a big challenge for any florist. You couldn’t fix anything to the walls that would cause any lasting marks; all flowers had to be fresh (it wasn’t easy to keep them “alive” – considering how hot it was all week); and the most important thing this year – to make a splash spending less cash!!
